Fashion in Paradise: Fashion, Celebrities, Events & Nightclubs
in the '80s and '90s
Drawing from the private archives of the legendary Discoteca Paradiso, curated by Paolo Fabbri and Simonetta Franci, this site-specific installation by Nicola Brajato, Leandro Palanghi, and Simona Segre-Reinach explores the vibrant nexus of fashion, celebrity culture, and nightlife during the 1980s and 1990s.
Through a collection of previously unpublished photographs, the project illuminates how the disco club functioned as a pivotal stage for aesthetic trends and social rituals at the end of the 20th century.
The project was notably introduced by the late semiotician Paolo Fabbri during the 2019 ZoneModa International Conference, 'Be Cool! Aesthetic Imperatives and Social Practices'. .

This collaboration—further documented in the ZoneModa Journal (10, 1S 2020)—serves as both a visual history and a theoretical reflection on the 'cool' essence of the Italian club scene as a driving force for global fashion imagery
